Thanks to her charm, allure and ability to traverse multiple mediums, Gugino remained one of Hollywood's more in-demand actresses. From there, she had supporting parts in "Watchmen" (2009) and "Sucker Punch" (2011), played Hank Moody's lawyer on season four of "Californication" (Showtime, 2007-14) and reprised Karen Sisco for "Justified" (FX, 2010-15) before starring in a chilling adaptation of the horror classic "The Haunting of Hill House" (Netflix 2018). Meanwhile, she had big-screen roles in "The Lookout" (2007) and "American Gangster" (2007), and received the most buzz of her career by playing super-agent Amanda Daniels - chief nemesis of Ari Gold - on "Entourage" (HBO, 2004-2011). ![]() After attracting the attention of important industry players, Gugino suddenly found herself the star of her own series, "Karen Sisco" (ABC, 2003), which was based on a character created by Elmore Leonard, but the series was canceled after 10 episodes despite positive reviews. Moving easily back-and-forth between movies and television, she had supporting roles in "Snake Eyes" (1998) and "Spy Kids" (2001), while joining the cast of "Chicago Hope" (CBS, 1994-2000) during its final season. After a brief modeling career, Gugino became a regular on the primetime soap "Falcon Crest" (CBS, 1980-1991) and later had a regular role on the first season of "Spin City" (ABC, 1996-2002) before the show was revamped. Elizabeth has been in a fight with Shakespeare in Love for what was the better period piece, and honestly I love them both so much that I cannot choose, but what I know is that this film is completely original and stands on its own feet and succeeds at being a powerful historical film.Equally dazzling on both big and small screens, actress Carla Gugino's talent that transcends any medium. ![]() Director Shekhar Kapur keeps the film interesting using its actors and story to its advantage, and instead of slowing the film down by giving a confusing and slow plot, he gives us this one complex character and show her grow more and more throughout the films events and that is what really blew me away, how you can watch the beginning and end and see the major differences in the films hero. The settings, makeup, costumes, and acting are all triumphantly amazing and really put us in this time period and I loved it. Cate Balnchett is incredible and perfectly handles the character of Elizabeth perfectly and how she grows more mature and wise throughout the film. The script and characters keep us interested for the entire film, and I was entertained throughout and that is something you need to look for in a historical film. I must admit i didn't expect to enjoy this because it seemed like it was going to be very slow and uneventful, but boy was I mistaken. Elizabeth is a fantastic period drama and one of the best historical films I have ever seen.
